Benevolent and Local Mission Funds

Overview

As a Christian community, we are here to love our neighbours as Christ has loved us. To this end we have various funds to address the needs of local and global neighbours. We are very careful in choosing which individuals or organizations we fund. We made commitment to be transparent and above board in carrying out the wishes of donors.

Funds for Local Needs

Benevolent Fund

Purpose: To help those who are in need in Drummond Hill Community and beyond

The primary source of the fund is the donations collected during our regular communion worship services. The envelopes are available by request or in pews. The collected monies are disbursed every year to the needy. The total amount depends solely on the giving by the membership.

The request is made through elders. The decision is made by the session as to who is eligible and how much to receive. This fund is set up to address emergency situations that arise among Drummond Hill family members. It has been distributed to those who do not belong to Drummond Hill as well. Anyone can request an assistance through an elder.

Local Mission Fund

Purpose: To assist local not-for-profit charitable organizations whose goals are in line with our values of justice and well being

Everyone is asked to make donations to help other charitable organizations which are working hard to make this world a better place for all. Each year worthy organizations are reviewed and selections are made by the session. Congregation designates certain amounts on donation envelopes.

Other Funds

We are in the process of exploring possibilities of setting up funds to help our neighbours in Niagara Falls.

Global Funds

Currently we do not fund any global projects. We entrust the task of assisting to the church Agencies.

Presbyterians Sharing

Donations to "Presbyterians Sharing" are made through the Drummond Hill and sent to the Presbyterian Church in Canada (PCC). The General Assembly of the PCC approves the budget of the PCC and portions of Presbyterians Sharing donations are used for internal ministry work of various kinds. Giving to Presbyterians Sharing also funds Theological colleges and national activities.

Presbyterian World Service and Development (PWS&D)

Donations are collected for emergency reliefs around the world as well as long term developments in various parts of the world. All donations are sent to the PWS&D directly. PWS&D as a church agency carries out various relief projects on behalf of us and other Presbyterians in Canada. Most aid monies are matched by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and some provincial governments.
